Where do I get an AMBE decoder?

You can purchase an AMBE decoder that is suitable to use with the Total Recall VR Browser and Total Recall VR Monitor application from us. Please read “How many AMBE decoders do I need?” for additional information.

Alternatively you can leave AMBE decoders from us. Please contact us for details, however note that the fees include a refundable (conditions apply) bond deposit and a monthly fee per AMBE decoder channel.

Can we have a recorder in our private cloud?

Can we have a secure (VPN) connection to the recorder?

Yes, it is possible to have a VPN connection between the recorder and your sites at an additional monthly cost. Please contact us to discuss options and pricing.

Note that your recorder is located in its own virtual private cloud that is not shared with other customers and can be accessed only form IP addresses that are specified by you. In addition, all traffic between the recorder and the PC applications is over a secure and encrypted link.

How do I record telephones other than VoIP?

Unfortunately we do not have a solution for recording analogue, ISDN and digital telephones.

However, you may be using non IP telephones on a PBX that supports SIP and/or SIPrec trunks, or Cisco™ BiB – please check with your PBX supplier. In such cases it is possible to record non IP telephones.

How do I record analogue sources?

To record audio from analogue sources, you need to convert the analogue audio to digital first and then packetize it in RTP packets and finally send the RTP packets to the recorder to be recorded.

How do I backup my cloud recorder?

You cannot and you do not need to.

We backup your recorder on weekly basis. This service is included with your plan.

However, note that the backup is not a replacement for an adequate archiving strategy which will ensure that you do not loose recordings due to database and file space limits. We will work with you to setup an adequate archiving strategy for your recordings.

Do I need to configure a SPAN port?

No, none of our plans require a SPAN (a.k.a. mirror or RAP) port on your switches.

For all of our plans, the cloud recorder uses active recording techniques and integrates with your communication equipment using a network connection. For example. In the case of recording VoIP telephones, you need to setup a SIP trunk between your PBX and the cloud recorder.

What is hybrid recording?

Hybrid recording is a feature that basically says that the recorder is capable of recording audio from disparate sources concurrently (at the same time).

For example, if a recorder is capable of recording conversations from telephones, 2-way radios and intercoms at the same time, then it is capable of hybrid recording.
